LEADERSHIP

As a servant leader, I've never been opposed to rolling up my sleeves to assist with any project my team owned. From manning a camera, hanging lights, calling a show, to burning the midnight oil...I did whatever was necessary.

Having always felt "blessed" to have a career doing something that I absolutely loved has helped me willingly do those things as well. Being able to "do" gave me an appreciation for the challenges my teams were dealing with and helped me advocate on their behalf for the resources, support, and sometimes the empathy they needed.

When I look at the body of work my teams have produced, I smile.

We were in many ways "ahead of the curve" for an in-house resource. We were able to extend creative resources across the organization and to business units beyond the marketing groups or BUs with deep pockets. As a result, we grew and earned the respect of our leadership team. Having highly creative work (internally produced) to showcase, eventually helped us earn the respect of our "agencies of record". We were then able to develop a collaborative working relationship with them versus an adversarial one...which is an accomplishment of which I remain most proud of.

As a fan of John Houseman of Smith Barney's 80's commercial fame - "We did it the old fashion way...we earned it!". There's something very rewarding when you "earn it!"

Having been born and raised in St. Louis Mo., the "show me state", I've been taught to do just that.

Within this site are examples of various projects of mine and the different teams I led.

What won't be as visible will be the relationships, the struggles, the collaborations, the celebrations, the negotiating, problem solving, and resource challenges that occurred along the way...but those happened as well.
